Right
at the heart of the Smokehouse’s operations is The
Smokehouse Shop – an oasis of quality, style and plenty
in a stressed and demanding world!
Extended five times since its opening
in 1993, The Smokehouse Shop offers a dazzling array of
cooked and fresh meats, smoked fish, British and Continental
cheeses, sauces, accompaniments and condiments, not to mention
a mouth-watering olive selection and chiller cabinet full
of in-house prepared foods. The products are sourced by
our Shop Manageress, Barbara Stephenson.
Our food could hardly be more tempting
and fresh, since a very large proportion of it is made within
the Smokehouse itself. Just a short distance from the shop,
our smoke stoves produce the highest quality bacon, ham
and smoked salmon, and, in the various preparation areas
behind the retail department, salting, curing, slicing and
packaging operations go on apace.
While the Smokehouse’s expert
butcher, Frank Coulston, prepares bespoke
cuts of meat to order, over 25 other staff busy themselves
with food preparation and service. All of them have the
same high level of skill and dedication to customer satisfaction
for which the Smokehouse is now famous. Not surprising,
perhaps, that this was voted Best Speciality Food Shop of
the Year 1999-2000!
